sweet corn
For the next few weeks the farm hours are Tues - Fri 9-6, Sat and Sun 9-4, closed Monday. The PYO tomato patch still has an abundant supply of main season red and green varieties. The price for PYO is $1.00/lb red or green. This year the patch has approx 800 tomato plants with 13 varieties including heirloom and plum varieties. We expect to have tomatoes into Oct if we don't have a hard freeze. Surprisingly the green beans are still producing and available for picking. We have all white Silver King sweet corn today. This is the last weekend of corn for the season. The farmstand is stocked daily with a variety of vegetables including tomatoes, various lettuces, peppers, kale, Baby Swiss chard, summer squash, traditional and eight ball Zucchini. Cucumbers are all done for the season. We now offer Buttercup, Delicata and Kabocha Orange winter squash with cooking tips and recipes. Winter squash and all fresh vegetables are packed with vitamins and minerals which are in short supply in instant foods. Fall pumpkins and gourds are coloring up. We have a small supply of Speckled Swan gourds available. Our fall seedlings of broccoli, spinach, lettuces, swiss chard and kale have been planted. The fall raspberries did not overwinter in good health and we won't have them this year. We no longer have PYO grapes. Our handmade herbal soaps are sold at the farm stand year round. My latest favorite is a nice dark Coffee mint. Call the farm phone @ 868-2001 anytime for updates or check here.
